Systemic Barriers Affecting Black Female Leaders


Black women professionals often encounter significant barriers that limit their professional growth and financial advancement. Despite their talents and qualifications, they are frequently confronted with systemic biases, limited access to leadership roles, and wage disparities. As of today only 7% of executive level positions are held my women of color.

 

Impact on Finances: Black women earn only 64 cents for every dollar earned by white men, which translates to a loss of nearly 1 million euro over the course of a career. This wage gap not only affects their immediate financial stability but also limits their ability to accumulate wealth and secure long-term financial independence and freedom.

 

Impact on Well-Being: The persistent challenges of underrepresentation, unconscious biases and micro aggressions contribute to higher levels of stress and burnout among black women. Leading to a decline in mental and physical health, which makes it harder for them to thrive in both their personal and professional lives.

 

Impact on Society: The underutilization of black women in leadership roles results in a significant loss of diverse perspectives in decision-making processes. This lack of diversity hinders innovation, company performance, economic growth and perpetuates inequalities within society.

 

By addressing these barriers, we not only empower black women to reach their full potential but also create a more equitable, innovative, and prosperous society for all.

Meet Kaley.

Kaley is an ICF-accredited Life Coach specializing in empowering women of color in leadership roles. With  20+ years of corporate experience, including at KLM, Peugeot and Paradiso, Kaley brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her coaching practice. Born in Zimbabwe, she has spent a significant part of her life traveling the world, immersing herself in different cultures, and holds two bachelor's degrees in Business Administration, including one from a university in France.

Her personal experience as a Black female professional navigating the corporate world informs her approach. This experience, combined with wisdom gained from years of professional and personal growth, positions her to effectively guide and empower her clients.

Her unique coaching method, Root to Rise, is grounded in extensive research and combines current trends with somatic practices like EFT and breathwork.
